Glossary

  • Admin, operator, viewer — the three roles a person can have in a tenant. See Roles & Access.
  • Alert rule — a condition logiccloud orchestrate watches, such as a device that is offline or a metric above a threshold. See Alerts.
  • API key — a secret that lets a script or another system call the logiccloud orchestrate API without a person signing in. See API Keys.
  • Application — a workload you can deploy, for example Node-RED. It has one or more versions. See Applications.
  • Application version — one release of an application. A version can be Active, Deprecated or Retired.
  • CA certificate — the certificate authority your devices trust. A tenant needs one before devices can register. See Certificates.
  • Canary rollout — a rollout that installs on a few devices first and continues only when they succeed.
  • Capabilities — what a device reports about itself: vendor, model, CPU, memory, storage and architecture.
  • Deployment — an application version installed on a set of devices with chosen parameters and a rollout strategy. See Deployments.
  • Deployment profile — one way to install a version, for example Docker Compose or Helm Chart. Each selected profile becomes its own deployment.
  • Device — an edge computer that logiccloud orchestrate manages. See Devices.
  • Device group — a named list of devices that you deploy to as one target. See Device Groups.
  • FLECS Store — a FLECS marketplace store linked to your tenant as a source of applications. See Repositories.
  • Label — a key = value pair on a device, for example line = press. Labels filter device lists and alert rules.
  • Margo — the open specification logiccloud orchestrate follows for device registration, capability reporting and workload deployment. See Margo Overview.
  • Notification target — an e-mail address or webhook that receives alerts.
  • Onboarding — the first registration of a device with logiccloud orchestrate.
  • Registry — a Git repository or container (OCI) registry that supplies applications. See Repositories.
  • Rolling rollout — a rollout that installs on the devices in batches.
  • Slug — the short name of a tenant in addresses, for example the acme-corp in /acme-corp/devices.
  • Superadmin — a person with platform-wide rights across all tenants.
  • Telemetry — metrics and logs a device sends to logiccloud orchestrate. See Device Telemetry.
  • Tenant — an organization in logiccloud orchestrate. Its devices, applications and users are separate from those of every other tenant. See Tenants.
  • Tenant switch — a superadmin’s time-limited, recorded access to a tenant they are not a member of.
